About the show

The stage musical of Joel Schumacher's 1987 cult vampire film, set in the fictional Santa Carla, California. Newly arrived brothers Sam and Michael Emerson fall in with a gang of teenage vampires led by David, and the story pivots on the choice between mortal family and vampire immortality. Cast includes LJ Benet as Michael Emerson, Shoshana Bean as Lucy Emerson, Ali Louis Bourzgui as David, Benjamin Pajak as Sam Emerson, and Paul Alexander Nolan as Max. Won 4 Tony Awards from 12 nominations at the 79th Tonys (2026), including Best Featured Actor and Best Featured Actress in a Musical. Previews began March 27, 2026; opened April 26, 2026 at the Palace Theatre; running open-ended (a North American tour has been announced for 2028).

Content advisory: Recommended ages 14+. Vampire violence, blood, adult themes, loud rock score, strobe and haze effects typical of the source material's 80s aesthetic. Not a children's musical despite the film's PG-13 origin.
